I think Bill Murphy said it best on Bob Going’s blog. I’ll add that the fact that the city voted not to support the bond act is not necessarily indicative of the lack of support for the one specific project to be located in Amsterdam. There have been a number of bond acts in recent decades, and it would be interesting to see whether the city has ever had a majority vote in favor of one. Although it is quite sad that such a huge investment to create a beautiful public work is now being petitioned against by some. I do take exception to one additional thing that I read on Mr. Going’s blog. It was always Assemblyman Tonko’s intention to find the funds to link Riverlink Park with Guy Park Manor. He spoke to Senator Gillibrand about exactly that when she came to Amsterdam to see the bridge designs.
