Where Art Thou Shared Services?
The shell game on paying for demolition continues (here):
But city supervisors Barbara Johnson and Barbara Wheeler, of Amsterdam’s 2nd and 4th wards, respectively, said they were concerned that pushing even part of the disposal cost onto the city would effectively kill what they considered a necessary service to address the multitude of blighted city buildings.
And the ongoing saga continues: we need demolition but hey, don’t expect us to pay for it. And never mind it’s precisely the wrong strategy for revival. But then what would folks rail against? My brain hurts.
To be clear: I’m not criticizing the supervisors above as they’re stating the obvious. My snark is directed at the proponents of the shared services meme who think demolition is a free ride for the city.
