Knicks and Lakers to Join AHS Basketball Tourney
March 7, 2014 (Amsterdam , NY) — The NBA announced today that the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers will compete in a local basketball tournament with the winner facing the AHS Varsity Basketball team.
The NBA took the unusual step after watching the respective teams turn in dismal offensive and defensive efforts in recent weeks. NBA spokespersons were mum but one source familiar with the situation called the level and intensity of play of the Lakers and Knicks as “a disgrace to the game of basketball”.
The NBA hopes that competing against the local varsity squad will remind and reacquaint the former championship level teams of the fundamentals of the game including passing, shooting and the forgotten defensive move of “boxing out”.
AHS players look forward to a close match but remain confident in a win with junior forward Mike Fauxname stating, “We got this.”.
The NBA has kept the option to relegate the Knicks and Lakers to the Foothills Council depending upon the tourney outcome.
The tournament is scheduled for April 31, 2014 at the Amsterdam Civic Arena.
